Now that many wonderful events have happened this week, we wanted to remind you about important safety tips for the application and use of fireworks for your next Independence Day holiday party. Make sure you follow these little known steps!

Safety Tips for Fireworks Activities

  1. Never allow children to ignore fireworks even if they’re sparklers, the latter of which make up 25% of firework-related emergency room injuries.
  2. Never relight a firework if it does not go off. Rather, put them in water and throw it away.
  3. Avoid loose clothing while lighting or playing around fireworks.
  4. Always keep a bucket of water available in case a fire occurs or a firework is malfunctioning.
  5. Never make your own fireworks.
  6. Don’t try to disassemble or recreate fireworks in any way.
  7. Point fireworks and sparklers day from you when they’re lit.
  8. Light fireworks fireworks on a fire resistant or dry on the ground, away from dry leaves, trash, and more.
  9. Soak fireworks in water before throwing them away.
  10. It is better to light one firework at a time, rather than multiple.
  11. If you can, a portable fire extinguisher is good to have on hand. A water hose works as well.
  12. Always follow the directions on the fireworks and don’t use them for what they’re not intended for.

With these safety tips, hopefully you won’t encounter any accidents! We hope that you have a fun and wonderful 4th of July!
